Keep the Fire Burning on the Altar

29 June 2025
← All Sermons

Closing June’s month of godly passion, this message insists that passion for God is not limited to one month but must be carried forward, as Leviticus 6:12-13 commands that the fire on the altar be kept burning and never go out. Paul ran to win and disciplined his body so that, having preached to others, he would not be disqualified (1 Corinthians 9:24-27), and in Gethsemane Jesus told His disciples to watch and pray, for the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak (Matthew 26:36-41). From 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 it warns that envy, strife and division mark carnal believers who walk as mere men, while Titus 2:11-12 shows that the grace of God has already appeared, teaching us to deny ungodliness, so no one can claim they lack power. There are three wills at work, God’s, man’s and the devil’s, and God is glorified when we pray, as Jesus did, ‘not my will but Yours’. Rather than chasing prophecy about tomorrow, believers should let God be God and use the tools He has given, the word and prayer, because the enemy will attack hunger and thirst for God. It closes by bringing every habit to the altar.
