Godly Wisdom Shows in Meekness
Opening the second half of the year with Psalm 2 and the assurance that the Lord reigns over every raging nation, this message declares that God, the captain of our salvation, will lead the church to finish the year well. From John 1:45-46, ‘can any good thing come out of Nazareth?’, it prays for the release of every hidden good thing, and from Luke 2:52 notes that even Jesus grew in wisdom. Wisdom is not common sense, and no one is born with it; it must be sought. Drawing on James 3:13-17, it contrasts earthly, manipulative craftiness with godly wisdom, which shows in conduct and decisions and is pure, peaceable, gentle and marked by meekness, often mistaken for weakness. Good leaders in church or business do not bully or manipulate. Jesus with the woman caught in adultery (John 8:1-11) is the model: without shouting, He let each accuser’s conscience speak until none remained. Wisdom does not need to shout and will prevail with time. To grow in it, believers should let the word enter (Psalm 119:130), choose wise companions (Proverbs 13:20) and ask God (James 1:5), refusing ever to reject His wisdom as Solomon later did. It closes with prayer.
