Entering Your Next Chapter of Triumph
This message walks through the four chapters of the book of Ruth (Ruth 1:1-5 and 4:13-22) as four stages of entering the next chapter God has planned (Jeremiah 29:11). Elimelech, whose name means ‘my God is King’, left Bethlehem, the house of bread, for idolatrous Moab, showing that every choice leads to blessing or cost. The first is the chapter of returning: Naomi came back, like the prodigal son, and Ruth made up her mind, ‘your God will be my God’, a call to follow Jesus, the Bread of Life, wholeheartedly and not on our own terms. The second is the chapter of leftovers, where Ruth gleaned faithfully and found favour, but believers must not settle there. The third is the chapter of deep fellowship, reached by following wise counsel even when it looks hard. The fourth is the chapter of ‘wow’, where Ruth became the great-grandmother of David.
