Blessed Are the Pure in Heart
Following the International Winners Conference, and under August’s theme of integrity from Proverbs 10:9, ‘he who walks in integrity walks securely’, this message turns to the blessing Jesus pronounced in Matthew 5:8: ‘blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God’. To see God is to experience His presence and grow in maturity, and God desires a bride without blemish, marked by integrity, moral courage and godly character. A pastoral story tells of a woman who, after being wronged in her family, was persuaded to pay for revenge, but obeyed counsel to cancel it, lost her money and gained peace. Contrasting Saul, who made excuses, with David, who opened his heart in Psalm 51, it warns that playing with the heart turns believers into actors. Proverbs 4:23-27 calls us to guard the heart, where life starts, and Jeremiah 17:9 warns that it is deceitful above all things. Like painting a wall to stop flies without finding their source, religion polishes the outside while the inside stays dirty. It closes with Psalm 112 and prayer to see God, including for future generations.
