Staying Connected to the Source of Enthusiasm

When God is in us no problem can permanently keep us down. From James 1:22-24 it pictures God’s word as a mirror: believers must be doers of the word and not hearers only. Ecclesiastes 9:10 and Romans 12:11-12 call for wholehearted, Spirit-filled zeal and continual joy, but enthusiasm must keep increasing, because what seems enough today will not be enough tomorrow. The key is connection to the One who is more than enough. In John 16:7 Jesus said it was to the disciples’ advantage that He went away, so that the Holy Spirit, the Helper, Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counsellor, Strengthener and Standby, would come. Peter, who denied Jesus three times, went back to fishing and caught nothing until he reconnected.
